Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Joins Game Pass Today
The final day-one addition to Xbox Game Pass this month is set for today with the launch of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the standalone prequel to the award-winning A Plague Tale series. Developed by Asobo Studio, the game puts Sophia at the center of a new story that combines melee combat, exploration, puzzles, mythology, and the mysterious legacy of the Macula.
Being a day-one release, the game is only included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass at launch. It is available to play on Xbox Series X|S, PC, cloud, and supported handheld devices. The game marks the 20th title in the August 2026 lineup.
There is one last confirmed game for this month with Young Suns entering the Premium tier on August 31. Not unless there’s a shadowdrop on Gamescom, which there isn’t so far, that caps off August Game Pass additions.
Taking place 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy puts you in control of Sophia as she flees a pursuing army and ends up on the Minotaur’s Island. The game brings melee combat and dual timelines to the series, shifting between Sophia’s era and ancient Minoan times to explore the origins of the Macula. As you navigate the island’s ruins and underground mazes, you will solve light-based puzzles using a stolen artifact, fight off enemies looking for treasure, and try to outsmart a relentless creature that constantly stalks your every move.
